The concept of a Barangay Health Management Council (BHMC) was developed by a working group comprising technical advisors from SIAPS and health staff from the Quezon City Health Department in late 2011. The BHMC initiative aims to strengthen the delivery of services under the national tuberculosis (TB) control program (NTP) in poor urban communities. This document was developed as a quick reference for those who plan to establish BHMCs. The contents of this guide are based on the insights and experiences of the people involved in the implementation of the BHMC initiative in Quezon City from 2012 to 2016.
