Committed to the global fight against neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), SIAPS Program has developed a three-day training workshop for national NTD program managers and their supply chain management counterparts. Through a series of regional workshops, SIAPS will contribute to increasing the capacity of program managers to manage donations or procurements during mass drug administration (MDA) campaigns.
The first workshop is being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from September 29th to October 1st, and includes participants from government agencies from Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda; RTI; WHO, USAID; and other key stakeholders that work to combat NTDs. With NTD program goals at the center of this initiative, effective and efficient collaboration between all national partners will be key in heightening in-country capacity for NTD control and improving medicines forecasting. The workshop will highlight strategies for prolonging the life of NTD medicines and effectiveness of programs, including proper inventory management, pharmacovigilance for adverse drug reactions, and capturing reliable information for program decision-making.
