Nationwide roll-out of QuanTB in Uzbekistan

In September 2015, USAID’s Systems for Improved Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) helped the Uzbek Ministry of Health (MOH) successfully complete a nationwide roll-out of QuanTB, a tuberculosis (TB) quantification tool.

QuanTB is a downloadable desktop tool that transforms complicated calculations into a user-friendly dashboard displaying key information for managing medicines.  By serving as an electronic forecasting, quantification and early warning tool, it is designed to improve procurement processes, ordering and planning for TB treatment, thereby helping to ensure that TB medicines are taken continuously and consistently by patients. To ensure sustainability over the long term, USAID/SIAPS has also trained local staff in the use and implementation of QuanTB. These staff in turn train individuals at three local organizations (the National Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Center, the National DOTS Center, and the Global Fund TB Grant Project Implementation Unit) in the use of QuanTB.
