SIAPS Delivers Plenary Presentation on AMR and UHC at EPN Forum 2016

The EPN Forum 2016, held 18-21 May 2016, in Tubingen, Germany, convened EPN constituents and stakeholders to intensify the network’s focus on major challenges in the pharmaceutical sector, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The forum was a chance for stakeholders to exchange ideas, share knowledge and best practices, and chart an effective course of action to address the global challenge of AMR.

SIAPS was invited by EPN to present during the AMR plenary session on the challenges that AMR poses in achieving universal health coverage (UHC).plenarythumb

SIAPS Principal Technical Advisor and Cluster Lead for Pharmaceutical Services, Dr. Mohan P. Joshi attended the forum and delivered a plenary presentation entitled Containing Antimicrobial Resistance to Realize the Goals of Universal Health Coverage. The presentation highlighted the global threat of AMR, described the ways in which AMR represents a barrier to UHC, and reviewed a few key steps which could help minimize the impact of AMR and help achieve UHC.
