Capacity Needs Assessment for Pharmaceutical Services for the ART Program in Lesotho

An assessment of the numbers and skills of health workers involved in the provision of ART-related services in an attempt to maximize efficiency of ART service provision in the country. It identifies what skills are required to provide good quality pharmaceutical services, what skills are available, and how the gaps identified can be addressed.

Analysis of the Angolan Public Health Supply Chain System

The project aimed to understand the current status and future plans of the Angolan public health logistics network, with the Central Procurement Agency for Medicines and Medical Supplies (Central de Compras de Medicamentos e meios medicos de Angola; CECOMA) as its principal focus. The team worked to identify weaknesses, gaps, strengths, opportunities, and potential threats in the system. The team worked to develop system-strengthening interventions and a plan for their implementation. The project staff worked to identify opportunities to build consensus among key supply chain stakeholders for the identified priorities and system-strengthening opportunities.

Reducción de la temperatura de los almacenes de medicamentos en Madre de Dios (Perú), utilizando tecnología de bajo costo

Acting within the framework of the South American Infectious Disease Initiative (SAIDI), the SIAPS Program proposed that a test be conducted to determine the benefits of using low-cost technology to reduce temperatures inside the region’s pharmacies to recommended levels. The ensuing intervention was designed to prevent the transmission of the heat produced by sunlight falling on facility roofs and walls, as well as to improve the internal flow of air.

Rapid Assessment of Pharmaceutical Management of Medicines and Supplies for Preventing and Managing Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Conditions in Rwanda

The specific objectives of the rapid assessment were to—determine the availability, stock-outs, and stock on hand of MNH pharmaceuticals at the moment of the interviewer’s visit and for the 6 months before the assessment, review the procurement and quantification procedures, describe the distribution chain, evaluate the storage conditions and inventory management of MNH pharmaceuticals along the distribution chain both in pharmacies and storage facilities as well as in the delivery suite, and assess the training and supervision related to managing MNH pharmaceuticals

The USAID-funded SIAPS project in Bangladesh is working toward improving access to and availability of quality pharmaceuticals and effective pharmaceutical services. The main objectives this assessment will support are—Strengthening of supply chain management systems of the MOHFW and component procurement entities with a particular focus on improving the tuberculosis (TB) supply chain management systems and Increasing transparent and evidence-based decision making with a specific focus on improving TB-related data collection and analysis.

Consultative Workshop on Supply Manual Revision Directorate General of Family Planning March 3–5, 2012

With the changes in DGFP supply policies and procedures over a course of time, the manual was revised and edited subsequently in 1978, 1986, 1990, 1999, and the last revised version in 2006. The workshop’s main objective was to review the supply manual and attain consensus among the participants.
