The main purpose of this inventory is to serve as a reference to help stakeholders working in the pharmaceutical sector easily access and use already available SIAPS resources, including tools, experiences, and results. The document is also intended to serve as a technical legacy for SIAPS to support knowledge exchange and sustainability of related work. The inventory is organized around the key program technical intervention areas as defined previously by the program. The document captures all key tools/approaches used by SIAPS (whether produced by SIAPS, a predecessor program, or a partner); selected country experiences in the form of technical reports or relevant materials; and other materials such as presentations, publications, technical briefs, and success stories that capture some of the results achieved by SIAPS.

Systems for Improved Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) Program Inventory of Key Technical Resources
Several partners and initiatives contribute to the control and elimination of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) at the global level. However, deficiencies in the capacity of NTD programs to manage the donation, storage, and distribution of neglected tropical disease drugs (NTDDs) for mass drug administration (MDA) still remain. Working in tandem with partners, stakeholders, and NTD programs in priority countries, SIAPS provided the required coordination and technical expertise to advance the NTD control agenda and address issues and concerns of global initiatives as they relate to NTDDs.
Supply chain constraints plague current neglected tropical disease (NTD) prevention and treatment programs. The rapid expansion of NTD control activities has not been without pharmaceutical and health system challenges. Inadequate NTD drug management in many countries has resulted in excess stocks, leading to waste resulting from drug expiry or stock-outs, leading to treatment interruption. SIAPS has received funding from USAID to support the Senegal MoH in strengthening the systems for NTD pharmaceutical management. The purpose of the technical assistance is to undertake a rapid assessment of the NTD pharmaceutical management system and understand the integration efforts. Technical review and recommendations have been provided by SIAPS personnel based in the SIAPS West Africa Offices and the office in Arlington, Virginia. SIAPS held meetings with the MoH NTD focal points and supply chain managers to ensure efficient delivery of technical support to the NTD programs, cross fertilization, sharing of lessons learned, challenges, and recommendations and to ensure that the implemented interventions are of the highest technical quality that focuses on country objectives.
Assessment of Supply Chain Management Systems for Neglected Tropical Disease Drugs in Cameroon, Mali, Tanzania, and Uganda
The rapid expansion of neglected tropical diseases (NTD) control activities has brought about pharmaceutical and health system challenges. In most countries, the Ministry of Health (MoH) is responsible for the administration and operation of medicines supply and distribution and for providing district health administrations with funding from the national level. District health care responsibilities are to implement the national NTD policy, plan and manage mass drug administrations (MDAs), and oversee community administration of the NTD control programs. The purpose of assessing the pharmaceutical management and supply chain management (SCM) of NTD control programs for Cameroon, Mali, Tanzania, and Uganda was to learn about the programs, identify the gaps within their pharmaceutical management, and make recommendations for strengthening the system.
